It's been fun...sometimes.
(like in Spain and Tangiers, March of '99)
The time in England and Portugal:
This is the view from my room in Rota.
I really should thank the person who called
me at 7:30 in the morning that day...otherwise
I would never have been up to take this picture.

Okay, I'm sure Rota has lots of very traditional Spanish bars, I just
haven't been in any of them.
This bar is called "Einstein" and is popular with people from the nearby US military base, crewmembers of all sorts, locals, Germans, and people from the other side of Spain. As you can see, most of them weren't there this night. |
Okay, this shop in Rota is a little more Spanish seeming.
Here you have your one stop shopping...guns, teddybears, knives, dresses... Oh, and they make keys, too. |

Several of us took a trip to Tangiers. Driving through Andalucia we saw all these wind generators. I chose this picture to post because it was very in focus for being taken from a moving vehicle, but unfortunately it doesn't really show you how many hundreds of these generators there really were. |
Tangier is not really supposed to be representative of Morroco, and I certainly hope not -- that would be like the Mall of America being representative of Minnesota. A big shopping mall. | ![]() |
These guys are trying to sell me a carpet. They don't take "no" for an answer, they are totally completely focused on getting you to say a price, any price, so they can start the bargaining process, and they can't accept the idea that you might not want what they're selling. | ![]() |
Lunch was the best part of the day. I'm so bummed out that we didn't go all the way to Marrekech and spend the night, and the waiter was so snobby and crabby I think he may have spent some time waiting tables in Paris, but my special vegetarian couscous was fabulous, and some German tourists shared their wine with us. | ![]() |

Hey sailor, what do you want to get tattooed today? Just another picture from Rota, Spain. I thought the sign on this Chinese tattoo parlor was pretty funny, but then, I'm easily amused. |
Okay, you saw the sunrise, now here's the sunset. Adios Andalucia, Spain. | ![]() |
